Learn more in our Employee Spotlight series to discover the remarkable stories and contributions of our team members at Florida Dermatology Specialists. This month, we're thrilled to highlight Brandie Renart, our outstanding board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology.

Can you share a bit about your background and how you got into dermatology?

Hi! My name is Brandie Renart and I am a Board Certified Physician Assistant. I grew up in a small town outside of New York City, called Warwick. I moved to Florida at 18 years old and never looked back! I graduated from the Dean's List at the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. I then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude at Nova Southeastern University with a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies.

My passion for dermatology began at a young age. As a child, I struggled with moderate to severe acne. This experience deepened my understanding of skincare and its impact on the skin's protective barrier. Since then, my passion has evolved into skin cancer prevention and helping others achieve healthy skin

What motivates you to do your best work?

My patients and my community inspire me to strive for excellence in my work. I know that I play an impactful role in healthcare, which motivates me to be the best provider I can be.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in dermatology?

For those considering a career in dermatology, my best advice is to stay up-to-date with current research. Science is dynamic and constantly evolving.

Could you share a skin care tip that you believe everyone should know for healthier skin?

Dry skin can clog pores and potentially contribute to acne! When the skin is dry, it can lead to an overproduction of sebum (our body’s natural oil) as the skin tries to compensate for the lack of moisture. This excess oil can mix with dead skin cells and clog pores, leading to the formation of acne.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of work?

When I'm not at work, I love spending time outdoors at the beach or park with my dog, Timmy, and my fiancé, Evan! I also find relaxation and stress relief through practicing pilates and yoga.

Question from Alyssa: What do you think sets FDS apart from other offices?

When I interviewed for the PA role here at FDS, Dr. Krathen had asked me what my core values were, to which I replied: Team work, compassion, dedication, and integrity. These are values I refuse to compromise on as both an individual and a healthcare provider. I truly believe that these values align with FDS, setting us apart as an exceptional dermatology practice.
