Chemical Peels

Within a few weeks of your chemical peel, healthier skin should be visible. At this time, patients should notice cosmetic improvements through the reduction of signs of aging, skin damage and other imperfections. However, some patients may require multiple chemical peel treatments to achieve the best results. When appropriate, we’ll help you schedule a series of chemical peel treatments to help you achieve your cosmetic goals.

Chemical peel treatments begin with a gentle cleansing to eliminate oils and debris from the skin. Then, the chemical peel solution will be applied to the skin, which is customized based on the patient’s skin type and treatment needs. Patients may experience a warm or tingling sensation during the chemical peel as it works to exfoliate the outer layers of skin. Depending on the type or strength of the chemical peel, we may rinse it off in-office after a short period of time, or we may advise you to wear the chemical peel home and rinse it off later.

The downtime that follows your chemical peel treatment will vary depending on the strength of the peel. In most cases, patients can expect some redness and sensitivity in the skin immediately following their chemical peel. In the following days, the skin will begin to flake and peel off. After this phase, new, healthy skin will become visible and you will start noticing the results of the chemical peel treatment. During this recovery process, patients are advised to protect the skin from heat, sun exposure and aggressive skincare products. Detailed instructions for aftercare will be provided upon conclusion of the procedure.
