Richard Krathen, MD, FAAD, FACMS, is a board-certified Dermatologist, Micrographic Dermatologic Surgeon, and fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon. He is the founder of Florida Dermatology Specialists, bringing expertise in dermatologic and skin cancer care to the communities he serves in Port St. Lucie, Stuart, and Palm Beach Gardens, and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Krathen is a South Florida native, born and raised in the Ft. Lauderdale area. He graduated summa cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Chemistry, then attended Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, graduating in the top ten percent of his class. At Dayton Skin Surgery Center in Ohio, Dr. Krathen completed a fellowship in Mohs surgery and procedural dermatology focusing on Mohs Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, Laser Surgery, and Cosmetic Treatments.
Committed to expanding his expertise and sharing his knowledge, Dr. Krathen is highly regarded in the field of dermatology. He maintains board certification in Dermatology and additionally passed the first offering of the Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery board examination in 2021.
Dr. Krathen has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Award and Honors in Basic Sciences from Baylor College of Medicine. He has published over 25 articles in professional journals about dermatology and dermatologic surgery, and has presented scientific studies and papers at national professional conferences.
Outside of work, Dr. Krathen enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, hiking, exercising, cooking, and playing music.
